Berlin Plus Agreement

In recent years, NATO and the EU have established their nascent cooperation under great conditions. EU Presidents Tusk and Juncker attended the NATO Summit in Warsaw in July 2016 and signed a joint statement with NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg to «give new impetus and substance to the strategic partnership between NATO and the EU». The result was a series of 42 concrete proposals on which the two organisations agreed in December 2016. They were even more numerous in December 2017. The Council of the EU and the North Atlantic Council approved a series of new proposals, including a total of 34 measures to implement the Joint Declaration. They also address new themes such as the fight against terrorism, military mobility and women, peace and security. .
